Njenga Karume's Health - Friends and family, including Royal Media Services Group Chairman S.K Macharia thronged the home of veteran politician Njenga Karume after reports that his health had deteriorated. Karume who is due to fly out for further treatment has been battling prostate cancer. Karume has been off the public's eye for some time as he fights the disease. According to his daughter Wanjiku Kahiu Karume, the doyen of Kiambu politics has been spending most of his time in his Cianda home in Kiambu. The veteran politician is a close confidante of President Mwai Kibaki and last held the defence ministry portfolio during Kibaki's first term at the helm of the country. A cheerful Karume spent the most of this morning entertaining his guests as they thronged his Cianda home. He is due to fly out for further treatment anytime soon. [less...]
